Annual Teacher/Support Person of the Year Banquet

Last week we had the honor of recognizing two outstanding individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference in our school community at our annual Teacher and Support Person of the Year Banquet. Ms. Melanie Lawhorn, Teacher of the Year, and Ms. Wendy Lane, Support Person of the Year, have not only inspired students to reach for the stars but also fostered a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Their commitment to education is truly inspiring!

Director Dr. Todd Chandler and members of the EJCHS Mastery Chorus were honored to perform for the Commerce Flagpole Dedication Ceremony, in memory of Councilman Donald Wilson, today at Ridling Park.

Make & Take Makerspace Monthly Library Feature

Students in grades 8-12 participated in our brand new Monthly Feature Make & Take Library Makerspace Activity in the culmination of our month-long celebration of National Literacy Month. Students created reading journals to record their thoughts and information about selected books. They added a fun scrapbook flare for visual appeal and got to take their finished products with them!

Art in the Park Competition

Congratulations to four of our creative art students who placed in the student "Art in the "Park t-shirt competition at Hurricane Shoals Park. Honorable Mention - Z. Mahaffey; 3rd place - Jenifer Rodriguez-Garfias; 2nd place - Olivia Naylor; 1st place - & Winner of the Grand Prize & $100 is Karol Zamora-Ortiz. Karol's t-shirt design will be the t-shirt design used for next year's event! Congratulations to all of the students who participated.

Animal Outreach Club Volunteers

EJCHS’s Animal Outreach Club recently had a blast caring for the cats and dogs of the Athens Humane Society! Students cleaned enclosures, walked dogs, and had lots of love time with their favorite furry friends. If you are interested in joining, please see Mrs Turco in room 466 or Mrs Williams in room 306.

EJCHS would like to congratulate our 2023 AP Scholar recipients. The AP Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated exemplary college-level achievement on AP Exams. We are extremely proud of these students for going above and beyond regular coursework and challenging themselves by taking Advanced Placement courses. Way to go Eagles!

Junior Class Dues

Attention EJCHS Juniors: Junior class dues are $35. If you want to receive a class shirt, your dues must paid by October 10th. Our first event will be in October prior to fall break for those who have paid.

September:  National Literacy Month

EJCHS celebrated National Literacy Month all September!  Students participated in our daily literacy challenges throughout the month and won prizes! Remember, literacy is not just about textbooks and exams. It's about discovering new worlds, gaining knowledge, and expressing your creativity.

Empower Bus

If your student attends classes at the Empower College and Career Center in the mornings, please be sure to arrive on time. The last bus leaves EJCHS at 7:45 sharp! If you are a car rider and will be arriving late, we ask that you drop your student off at Empower instead of EJCHS as no late buses travel from EJCHS to Empower.

Tutoring is available for all academic and modern language content areas each morning in the media center.  Touch base with your teacher if you have questions.

EOC Study Sessions

Don't forget:  study sessions for EOC courses (11th-grade literature, Algebra 1, U.S. History, and Biology) take place every other Wednesday until May 8th from 3:05-4:45 pm. Bus transportation will be provided if students sign up before the Tuesday weekly cut-off. Linq Connect for Lunch Account Payments

Pay at LINQ Connect

  • Breakfast costs $1.45 in the elementary schools and $1.55 in the middle and high schools.
  • Lunch costs $2.10 in the elementary schools and $2.60 in the middle and high schools.
  • Adults can eat with their children at $2.75 for breakfast or $3.75 for lunch.

During the 2023-24 school year, households will not be required to pay the reduced price of $0.30 for breakfast, nor the $0.40 for lunch, due to the Georgia Department of Education funding being utilized to cover these costs.

SchoolPay is the only way to complete transactions related to school services, including fundraisers, club dues, and dance tickets this year. We will be limiting cash and check transactions moving forward.
