The next three weeks are busy ones for seniors, and we want to make sure that you have the information you need to make the last few days of your high school experience as stress-free as possible.
Make sure that you have appropriate clothing to meet dress code for graduation night on May 23. The female dress code is a dress or skirt that can’t been seen with the graduation gown on and black or navy dress shoes that are comfortable. Blisters are no fun on graduation night. The male dress code is a white button up dress shirt, dark tie, dark dress slacks (black or navy), dark socks, and dark dress shoes. The idea is that we want a polished, consistent look among graduates. Students cannot decorate the top of their cap.
Graduation practice is scheduled for May 22 at 9:00 AM. Seniors should not enter the main building but rather should report directly to the gym, dressed in their graduation night attire, including cap and gown. We take the group photo first at practice. Then students are allowed to change clothes for the actual field practice. Students must participate in practice in order to participate in the ceremony on Thursday evening.
Our goal is to hold the ceremony in the EJCHS stadium. If we have a stray rain shower, we will postpone the start time but will still try to get the ceremony in that evening. If we have severe weather, we have a plan for moving the ceremony into the gym. Seniors will be limited to 5 guests each if the ceremony is moved indoors. Seniors will receive these 5 tickets at graduation practice. If the ceremony is moved indoors, our technology department has devised a plan to livestream the ceremony into our auditorium to accommodate for additional guests. Again, our plan is to have the ceremony in the stadium if at all possible.
After graduation practice, seniors can participate in senior field day on campus.
Last week during lunch, seniors picked up their invitations to attend the elementary school Senior Walks on May 21 at 1:30. Parents are welcome to attend the Senior Walk as well. Seniors will need to wear their cap and gown to the walk, and they will need to provide their own transportation.
This Wednesday, May 8, will be the last Herff Jones delivery date of the year.
All senior debts should be paid at this time. Seniors with outstanding debts with the school will not receive a diploma.
AP exams begin this week. The Economics EOC is May 13. Final exams for seniors are May 15-20.
We still have several seniors who are in jeopardy of not graduating due to excessive unexcused absences. Seniors can still make up time on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons in room 485.
Please check with the cafeteria staff about your account balance whether you eat or not. The cafeteria staff must refund any unused money, even from previous years, to students prior to graduation.
Thank you for working with us to make sure all of our seniors finish strong and can have a memorable and stress-free graduation night.
